Galaxo Infochannel – modern and efficient communications
Oulu10 started using the Galaxo Infochannel at the building’s opening ceremony in 2008. There was a clear need for an extremely efficient means of communications; Infochannel has accelerated functions and improved their efficiency, and significantly reduced the need for manual labour.
Galaxo Infochannel is a real-time communications channel, consisting of a network of high-quality digital displays. The service is perfect for communicating, demonstrating and showing the way for both your customers and your own staff.
Jussi Kauppi, service manager at Oulu10, says that the acquisition of the new communications channel originated from a national project aimed at developing customer services in the public sector. The objective is to produce a customer-oriented concept where residents do not need to know the entire municipal organisation in order to find services – Infochannel meets this requirement perfectly.
“Our aim was to increase customer satisfaction. The new communications channel represents an investment in quality and, as the process continues to develop, our experts can spend more time on their key tasks.”
Infochannel increases regional equality
The delivery of the Galaxo communications channel consists of hardware and software solutions for reaching target groups.
Currently, Oulu10 has two screen units. One screen is intended for distributing in-house information and communicating current municipal news, while another acts as a communications channel regarding public matters for the public. A third screen was installed at the Ylikiiminki service point at the beginning of the year.
“Through municipal mergers, efficiency and speed are emphasised when communicating services. Infochannel increases regional equality – the same information can be displayed in all municipalities at the same time,” Jussi Kauppi says. He adds that if the multi-municipal merger is executed, the Oulu10 service network concept will be introduced in the future city districts. In the future, Infochannel can serve the public extensively at different municipal outlets because the new channel significantly increases the possibilities of members of the pubic having an influence.
Information can be obtained quickly and easily
“From an electronic bulletin board, customers can easily find the information they need, because a clear and logically arranged table of contents, together with colour and letter codes, guides users to the correct place. Once the specific piece of information has been found, the customer can produce a paper document,” Kauppi says, describing the use of Infochannel.
“Our objective is to have a touchscreen and produce electronic documents. In the near future, we will utilise the channel even better; for example, as an administrative communications channel for Oulu10 visitors.”
Updating in no time
You can create and update the content displayed on Infochannel. All changes are made easily through an Internet connection. According to Kauppi, it is very fast and convenient to update changing information on the screen. After training of only one hour, appointed persons responsible for each customer segment were ready for the new system.
“Bulletins and topical matters published on the city’s website will also appear automatically on Oulu10 screens. When the technical office’s planning matters are published on the city’s website, the same information will be shown on Oulu10 screens. ”All outdated information will also be removed automatically using Galaxo's calendar function.”
